Hi there. my mother is 68, had a headache that started yesterday and today has a fever. shes a nursing sister that works in neonatal icu. im living with her. should she be tested and should i self isolate until she gets results?

Get tested...: Your mother should definitely get tested for COVID-19. Both of you should isolate until you know the results of her test. If she tests positive, you will need to quarantine for at least 14 days and monitor for symptoms and get tested if you develop any symptoms. Your mother should call her doctor ASAP to arrange testing, to get care and monitor the severity of her symptoms. Best of luck to you!!

COVID 19 testing: I agre with Dr. Ferranti. Although your mother's symptoms could be from various causes, it may be due to COVID 19. It is especially important for her to be tested because of her age and the fact that she is a medical provider. Recommend that you both quarantine and that she be tested.
