Depends on type : It depends on what type of cyst it is. The most common type of cysts are simple, functional cysts. These arise from ovulating but then get bigger. They are benign (not cancerous) and can be watched as they usually resolve on their own. If it is a different kind of cyst like a dermoid or endometrioma, then surgery may be necessary.
