A member asked:

Will strength training and weight lifting stunt an adolescent's growth during puberty?

Basics: As long as training avoids heavy power lifting that might disturb growth plates strength training is safe. When the kid has finished growing taller & growth plates fuse, power lifting would be fine. The primary advice for safe workouts is to have proper guidance in learning/performing lifts by someone trained to do so.

Moderation: Exercise in moderation like most other things in life. Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. For nutrition: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/. Get HPV vaccine. Wish you good health!
