A member asked:

I have an idiopathic erythrocytosis. (hb fluctuates 17.5-18.5) my gene tests, bm bx., abd ct, heart sono, brain mr, epo level, p50, and ngs for hereditary forms all went back normal. will i have normal life expectancy? i am exhausted and puzzled.

Erythrocytosis: I imagine that you're under the care of a hematologist and that pulmonary causes of ertythrocytosis are ruled out. Have you been advised to take daily low dose aspirin or have phelbotomies to keep your hematocrit under 45? Told to minimize stress, avoid dehydration or alcohol excess? There is a slight chance you may progress to polycythemia vera so continue follow-up with the rheumatologist.
