A member asked:

Hello, can a pelvic exam at 20 weeks pregnant effect the mucus plug? i'm worries as i had a exam and on the end of the spectlum there was a thick mucus looking blob on the end. i didn't ask the dr at the time as i didn't think and now i'm worried

A doctor has provided 1 answer

PG "unplugged": At 20 weeks gestation the cervical mucous plug is not yet completely in place to "perform a concert". The development of the pregnancy produces a large amount of mucous often seen in the vagina as a protective agent.
