Knee dislocation: You don't mention what type of knee dislocation you suffered, patella or more complex type or whether you're fully recovered with no knee stiffness, swealling or pain after activities. I assume your orthopedic specialist was satisfied with your rehab and recovery. If no problems and the knee feels very stable, a lighter support should suffice even if it's to give you peace of mind.
