Comfort: You can experiment with underwear. Is the elastic waistband too tight? Is the material overly heavy? The males in my family are very particular about the underpants they will wear. Try a different style to see if it is more comfortable to him. At age 5 he probably has a limited vocabulary to express the type of discomfort he is feeling.
