A member asked:

I am 82 and recently had a cat-scan. it showed cortical atrophy with patchy periventricular and deep white matter small vessel ischemic change. can you explain?

Any symptoms?: All testing results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, why was the study done. What symptoms do you have? It may be an indication of brain atrophy. Wish you good health!
