It will settle down: PSA is released into blood if the prostate gland is damaged or inflamed(Prostatitis). Placing a urinary catheter in his case must have caused sufficient trauma to cause the PSA to rise. Once the gland heals, the PSA is expected to come down to the baseline(2-3). Your father should be under the care of a Urologist to take care of his enlarged prostate and also to recheck his PSA till it is below 10
