A member asked:

My uncle has a large prostate of 42 gm.he had an urinary infection in the last month (blood came with urine) his psa test says 4.51.what is danger?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Needs further tests: The blood in the urine would need complete urinary tract evaluation:a CTscan with contrast of the abdomen and pelvis. If the cause of the blood is not seen then he should have cystoscopy. Urinary infection could be from many causes but an enlarged obstructing prostate is a common cause, especially when there is a high residual urine checked by bladder ultrasound. Have him follow up with urologist.
