Ernst's lungs are very congested from being bedridden. is the coughing and phlegm infectious for the rest of the family?

Infectious : More details are needed..what is the diagnosis? is he being treated? Coughs due to infection are often contagious. Coughing and congestion can also come from heart disease or lung disease which are not infectious nor contagious.
