A member asked:

Hello. if i wear a mask in a store/indoor area, but individuals, or to quote nj governor murphy, the "knuckleheads" nearby are either not covering both their mouth and their nose, or are not wearing a mask at all, am i offered any protection at all?

Yes.: Yes, a surgical or homemade mask offers the wearer some protection, probably around 50%, making it an "N50" in comparison to the N95 that healthcare workers use. It protects others even more. Also, covering your eyes helps you also, as does a hat. Figure that you don't want any "respiratory droplets," which can be small enough that you don't see them, to land on your mouth, nose, or eyes.

COVID 19: Please continue to wear the mask - even if others are inconsiderate and not wearing them. Your mask will provide you some level of protection, even if you would be more protected if people around you wore them as well.
