Warm compresses: Apply warm compresses a few times per hour if possible. To do this take a washcloth with very warm/hot (but not burning) water and apply to area until the cloth cools, then re-wet it with warm water again. If it is not improving or if it is worsening, or you develop a fever, you should contact your doctor to be seen. Acetaminophen can also be taken for pain.Don't try to pop it,as it may worsen.

Boil: I agree with Dr. Ungerleider about using warm compresses. However, if the boil enlarges significantly, the skin around it becomes red, warm and swollen for you develop fever - those might be signs of an abscess or surrounding cellulitis and would require medical assessment. Take care.
