Hydration/infection: The baby may have a viral gastroenteritis infection or a bacterial illness. Please see your pediatrician right away and check the temperature rectally. If the temperature is 100. 4 or higher, please discuss testing and an admission to the hospital with you pediatrician. Infants at this age may easily develop sepsis, since their immune system is immature. Provide formula and keep the baby hydrated.

Keep hydrated: Please contact your baby's doctor to be seen.Although this may be a viral infection, which will resolve on its own,an infant needs close monitoring and further evaluation.Blood in stool may be an irritation, milk allergy,or sign of a bacterial intestinal infection. Most important to monitor fever, make sure baby is having wet diapers with urine, and continue feeding.Any change in this, call doc sooner.
