It happens: The best way to verify a baby has good circulation/oxygen is to put a fingertip below an eye & tug down until the inner lid is seen. Pink=good oxygen. Lips may be chilled or darker occasionally as baby tries to hold on to their heat. The same thing can be seen with fingers/toes when exposed. Babies have soft/weak belly muscles & often use fussing/breathing muscles to push food along/poop.
