Go for urine test: The dark yellow urine may mean not drinking enough water or something abnormal with liver. The strong smell may be a reflection of food eaten or abnormal breakdown of food from malfunctioning organ like liver. You did not say what is sore however the best thing would be to go for urine test and have the doctor make sure of the cause, it may be due to urinary tract infection. The root detected=key.

Possible infection: This could be a urinary tract infection. The darker color and smell could be from not drinking enough fluids, which could also be contributing to irritation and then infection of the urine. Please see or contact her pediatrician, who can test her urine and examine her to see what the issue is and treat properly if treatment is needed.
