A member asked:

Passing mucus alongside poo and on it's own for 3 weeks, stool sample clear. bloods taken for full blood count, liver and kidney, do these particular blood tests give an indication of what could be the cause? worried sick!

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Normal: Mucous is produced by the bowel to help lubricate the stool. Mostly it isn’t seen, but it can be at times, this is normal. Excess mucous or mucous without stools might suggest an inflamed bowel, and should be examined by a proctologist. Good luck
