A member asked:

Good morning ?? doctors. how is it that we no longer hear about h1n1, ebola, or sars? what happened to them? could covid19 "go the same way?" why hasn't it? what would have to happen? what needs to happen such that people don't need to wear masks?

Viruses: 1. SARS completely died out around 2004. 2.There are still Ebola outbreaks in Africa but better controlled & not as large as previously. 3. H1N1 is a subtype of influenza A. It is still alive & well. 4. We can probably stop wearing masks when there is an effective COVID 19 vaccine and most people have received it. 5. COVID 19 is more contagious than any of the viruses you mentioned.
