I was diagnosed with hpv strand 16, i'm scared i'm going to have cancer. does this make it to where i can't have kids? or does it cause issues with carrying/ healthy pregnancy?

Some basics: HPV 16 as well as at least 6 others are associated with cervical cancer. You can have been infected & go your natural lifetime & never have cancer. You could also develop pre-cancer findings months/years/decades later that are found on pap smear & treated before it becomes cancer. As many as 70% of college age women had HPV antibodies before the vaccine.You are not alone or destined to have it.

Don't Worry!: HPV 16/HPV 18 account for 70 percent of all cervical disease. Only a small number of women who have one of these HPV strains that cause cervical cancer will ever actually develop the disease. Doctors monitor HPV with annual Pap tests that look for abnormal cervical cells. These lesions mostly clear on their own or can be frozen or cut out. Fertility/Pregnancy is rarely affected.
