A member asked:

Are children with brain tumors at increased risk for covid-19 infection?

4 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Maybe: Children may be at greater risk if they are receiving medications that lower their immune system. This includes chemotherapy and radiation. If the brain tumor has been treated, then the immune system recovers on its own in due time.

Brain tumor/cancer: Per Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation: Children are at lower risk overall. Having a brain tumor doesn’t necessarily increase risk for more severe disease. However, immunosuppressive drugs, protein kinase inhibitors, chemotherapy (currently or in last 3 months) or immunotherapy or ongoing antibody tx’s for cancer can increase risk.
