REAL medicine: Best treatment of depression is usually REAL anti-depressant medication, psychotherapy (talk therapy), or a combination of the two. A class of medications called SSRI's (selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors) is usually the first choice. A primary care physician should be able to start them for someone with depression, as well as recommend psychotherapy options.

Inadequate Tx.: If she is depressed she needs to get actual treatment. Going to psychotherapy once or twice is not a real trial. The request for natural meds sometimes represents reluctance to admit there is a problem or discomfort with taking psychotropic medications. It is clear that you care about your daughter. But for her to be happy, she will need to take ownership of her problem. See PCM or psychiatrist
