Basics: This is common. If the kid can swallow fluids without difficulty that material has passed into the stomach. It will pass quietly through the gut & into the poop in 2-3 days. If the kid has an unrelenting cough or choking spell it would suggest something caught in the throat or windpipe. what you describe suggests this did not happen.
