Two ways: The man with HIV takes anti-HIV drugs until he has an undetectable viral load. The couple then has sex without a condom, limited to the time the woman is ovulating. The HIV-negative female partner takes HIV medications as prophylaxis. Or: Sperm washing with in vitro fertilization or intrauterine insemination may be considered under the care of a Fertility specialist.

HIV treatment: The main thing is for the infected person to be on anti-HIV drugs and under the care of an experienced doctor or clinic. Effective treatment eliminates risk of HIV transmission and condoms are no longer necessary.
