Dermatologist: First, make sure you see a dermatologist. It is uncommon for a child to have this disorder so you need to be sure that is the correct diagnosis. There are medications that can help, but it can last for 1-2 years in adults, sometimes longer. Do not try any medication, though, until you see a dermatologist (specialist in skin diseases).
