MRI =in person visit: To get an MRI, you will need a referral after seeing a Dr in person. Unfortunately Telemedicine visits do not qualify as preauthorization for MRI. In your Dr's appt, the Dr will be able to fully examine your back and its range of motion, including any point tenderness and swelling, etc. Based on this exam and potentially other imaging such as an xray, the Dr may refer you for an MRI
