Melasma/chloasma: Skin darkening (melasma/chloasma) is actually a fairly common occurrence in pregnancy. Typically seen on the face, hands, feet and in skin flexures, this hyperpigmentation is due to the increased hormones circulating during pregnancy (especially twins). Once the baby(s) is/are born, the hormones gradually go back to normal. This can take up to 6m-1yr. It is not a sign of blood clots.
