Only if Previous UTI: You are not at an increased risk of UTI now after hip replacement. If your concern is seeding the hip with bacteria from a kidney infection the risk is exceedingly low. If you had recurrent infections before surgery make sure that you are evaluated to try and prevent further episodes. Common treatments are increased water consumption, cranberry juice, preventive antibiotics, vaginal estrogen.

Yes: If you have a urinary tract infection, you be on antibiotics to cure the infection and prevent bacteria from getting into your hip joint. If you are having symptoms of a urinary tract irritation, you should get a urinalysis and culture to determine whether you have an infection.
