A member asked:

I'm anemic, could hypothyroidism or hemorrhoids cause it?

Anemia: No. Anemia is a low red blood count. Low thyroid means your thyroid gland is not producing enough hormone. To get anemic from a hemorrhoid you would have to bleed a lot. You doctor can help you determine the cause.

Mixed anemia : In hypothyroid can have hypoproliferative anemia. Pernicious anemia isn't uncommon in autoimmune thyroiditis (hashimoto). Bleeding hemorrhoid can lead to anemia, and bleeding could be more severe as a subset of patients with hypothyroidism are at increased risk of bleeding due to an acquired form of von willebrand's syndrome, a condition associated with a hypocoagulable state (poor clot formation).
