A member asked:

After braces removal, if retainers are not worn, do teeth completely go to original position or shift only to some extent(50%)? means ortho treatment is against mother nature? if it was so natural in reshaping the structures, then this shouldnt happen

Incorrect: Orthodontic treatment does not go "against" mother nature. Relapse can occur over time to a different extent in everyone due to the elasticity of the tissues surrounding the teeth, changes in occlusion, and parafunctional habits. Many people stop wearing their retainers after a few years and their teeth don't shift, so your reasoning is flawed. Retainers maintain your investment.
