A member asked:

I'm 23 and recently have had a constant high blood pressure of 140 over 80. is this normal?

Hypertension: That pressure is the top end of normal. The caffeine and Ritalin (methylphenidate) could contribute to this. Stay in touch with the doc to keep track of the bp.

Not normal: A blood pressure of 140/90 or higher is hypertension. You need to repeat the blood pressure measurement using an accurate machine. If it remains high your doctor can recommend lifestyle modifications like low salt, exercise, weight loss, etc.
