i fell very hard late this afternoon. my big toe started swelling and excruciating pain immediately also started turning purple shortly after. also feels like my ankle was sprained. tie is swollen to highest limits and unable to touch toe. fractured?

Probably: In your situation,a cold compress with elevation of foot at level at least above heart overnight.Consult with Dr tomorow telephonically or whatsapp.Your GP can send you an x-ray referral.Would suggest you do not rub/massage affected area.Painkillers that you can tolerate.

Probably: You need a foot and ankle xray if the following doesn't help: Ice it off and on for 24 hours, keep it elevated at or above the level of your heart, use crutches if needed, wrap the ankle with an ace bandage, and tape the big toe to the second toe, but put a wedge of gauze or cotton between them so they don't rub together. Google Tow Taping. You're probably not as clumsy as I am! Get well!
