Black Women's Health: The answer is not entirely clear/ more studies are needed. According to American Journal of Epidemiology by Wise et. al, there was an association between fibroid and relaxers (lye and no-lye). Fibroids were directly related to high frequent use/long term use and the number of burns. There is no study showing a cause and effect relationship. 50% women/ 70% AAF have fibroids. Avoid burns.
