A member asked:

My toddler grand daughter cut her forehead small cut . should we be concerned about her developing anemia? and does it happen quickly? she was anemic as an infant. we just worry.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: A small cut would NEVER cause anemia. Infants often become anemic around 6-9 mo when their rapid growth outpaces their ability to make new blood to fill the tissue. Growth slows some after a year & diet lets them catch up.I would not lose sleep over it. Peds often check for anemia around 9 mo since it is common& has few symptoms. Thereafter we rarely get blood work unless symptoms call for it.
