Question?: I'm not sure what the question is. It sounds like the diagnosis is anemia (chronic). The etiology (cause) of that anemia and subtype -- eg macrocytic, normocytic, microcytic -- relating to the size of the red blood cells (rbcs) and possible cause is missing. Some initial tests in an anemia workup can include pbs (peripheral blood smear), retic, epo. Also stool blood, ua, and ferritin, etc...

Check iron levels: You say sudden and chronic. A bit confusing but the most common cause for anemia in menstruating female is iron deficiency. Iron deficiency can also cause restless legs syndrome. Have her doctor check an iron panel, reticulocyte count, b12, folate, (folic acid) and peripheral smear of the blood. If it is truly sudden, an ldh and haptoglobin would be useful to rule out hemolytic anemia.
