A 49-year-old male asked about a 76-year-old male:
when people die of pneumonia from the flu, is it the same or a different pneumonia than the one from covid-19?

Pneumonia: Both influenza and Covid can cause pneumonia. People who die from influenza often have contracted a secondary bacterial pneumonia. While this can happen with Covid, many of the patients who die have developed a severe and overwhelming inflammatory response in the lungs which prevents normal lung function.
