Long "period" ?: Extended bleeding on low dose oral contraceptives is generally due to not taking the active pills punctually. The active pills should be taken in the same hour the prior day's pill was taken. Pregnancy may occur if a given pack is started "late", i.e., more than seven days after the last active pill. Stop the active pills now, wait five days, then start a new pack, staying punctual.
