A member asked:

Will smoking make you more vulnerable to catching coronavirus?

Likely yes: Smoking affects the protective cells that line the respiratory tract , making one more vulnerable to respiratory infections like coronavirus. Smoking carries many other risks as well (COPD, heart disease, stroke, cancer) so perhaps now is a great time to move toward quitting: difficult but not impossible! Quitting is beneficial at any stage of life, & there is help out there to do it

Yes: Smoking compromises the lungs which means you are more vulnerable to COVID 19. Many smokers have other risk factors which also increase likelihood of having more severe illness.
