Smoking risks: It is not known that smokers are more likely to be infected with coronavirus but smokers are more likely to have worse outcomes with Covid 19 infection, just as they are with any infection of the lungs. Smoking damages the airways and lungs so that they are less able to sustain the assault of the infection.

COVID 19: We don't currently have evidence that smoking makes one more susceptible to getting infected. But anyone with compromised lungs (which tobacco can do) may have more difficulty fighting the actual disease.
