Arthritis vs strain: Common in both osteo arthritis and trauma. Icing and rest are indicated, Voltaren gel is now OTC in the US and can be applied with good relief. Freeze a styrofoam cup 3/4 filled with water to use as an ice rub, or a bag of ice will do. Orthotics are available to stabilize thus joint if needed. If the problem persists, get it evaluated by your doc to be sure.
