How long can it take for a wind to pass from under left rib? i have severe pain from this. should i be worried?

Wind ?=gas ?: In some people a gas pocket will accumulate on the left side under the rib because gas rises to seek the highest elevation. Physically that is where the large bowel is at its highest point before dropping down into the pelvis. If you lay down with your pelvis elevated on pillows for a while this gas should move to the pelvis & escape, ending your pain.
