A member asked:

Good afternoon. my daughter (12 years) has concussion. the dr prescribed mypaid and panado which she has been taken for a week. the headache is very bad again since yesterday and it seems the meds are not working. what else can she take for pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

CT scan or MRI: Headache after head trauma is not unusual, but if she sustained significant head trauma and is still having severe headache, I think she should be reexamined. Other symptoms like vomiting, drowsiness, confusion, unsteadiness or visual disturbances would be concerning.I would consider ordering a brain CT scan. An MRI, however, would avoid radiation and may be preferable.
