My 9 year old daughter is having an extremely bad headache. she is crying but not having any other symptons. what should we do? she took some jr. strength tylenol (acetaminophen) about 45 min. ago . but no relief.

You : You did the right thing by giving her a pain reliever. Consider trying children's advil (ibuprofen) in the future. I have found it to be much more effective for pain relief. Hopefully your daughter is better by now. However, if this is a recurring issue she should definitely see the pediatrician. Also, make sure she has her vision checked. One of the most common causes of headache in kids is vision problems, allergies/sinus issues are also high on the list. All the best.

Emergency Department: The headache may be caused by a common cold, but from your description, you must be evaluated right away to ensure there is nothing more serious related to a brain injury, mass or bleeding. Please be seen right away.
