Otolaryngologist: Consult an Otolaryngologist for evaluation,testing and advice. If tonsils are truly swollen or inflamed, throat culture and tests for infectious mononucleosis are indicated. Swollen lymph nodes from recent infection may take longer to recede, but if new ones keep appearing, mononucleosis could be the problem, or testing for a blood dyscrasia or node biopsy may be recommended.

Swollen node: Usually indicates infection. Your Physician probably had y9ub on antibiotics for the tonsillitis, but pericoronitis requires dental treatment. Please also see your Dentist.
