Spleen not big issue: People with asplenia or hyposplenia are at an increased risk of severe infection, not from viruses but from encapsulated bacteria (including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria meningitidis, E coli, and Salmonella). Severe illness may develop if infected with parasites like those in malaria or babesiosis. They should be vaccinated against S. pneumo., H. influen., N. mening.

Asplenia: Lack of a spleen does mean that it can sometimes make one more susceptible to bacterial and viral infections. But, I have not been seeing any accounts of asplenia related to particularly poor outcomes with COVID 19. https://www.nuemblog.com/blog/asplenia-in-the-ed
