HIV transmission: The number of virus particles required for transmission isn't known, and varies greatly with type of exposure (fewer with blood, more for sex). But in general it takes a lot of virus, which is why the risk of vaginal sex, with semen with LOTS of virus placed deep inside, infection results an average of only once in 1,000 exposures. Safe sex only, of course! And get tested if any possible risk.
