A member asked:

My son is 2 years 8 months old and although he has quite a wide vocabulary and understands and follows commands, hes not speaking in clear sentences yet. he knows his colours, can count to 10 and can point out letters. should we be concerned?

Clarity is relative: At 2 yo a kid speaks clear enough that those living with them may understand. By age 3 yo most can be easily understood by strangers & 4 yo they seem to be little adults (but they lack depth of understanding). If you are concerned about speech quality a speech & language specialist can screen him easily. In the US it is done by early childhood centers.
