Outpatient follow up: In emergency rooms, emergencies or life threatening conditions are ruled out or ruled in. Once they are ruled out and patients are deemed not sick enough to be admitted, work up for abnormal findings continues as outpatient and is coordinated by their PCP with the help of specialists as needed. In your case that is the missing link and that is creating frustration and likely unnecessary radiation.
