What can be causing my upper back pain? i have gerd and my gma had pancreatic cancer. seems like right behind my heart. sharp pain, severe at times. also having left side pain and throat feeling full and scratchy not like a sore throat. gerd 15+ yrs

Many possibilities: Esophageal pathology, specifically in the context of 15 years of treated GERD and along with the described throat symptoms comes first to mind on location, but gastric, pancreatic, musculoskeletal pathology will have to be ruled in or ruled out. Seeing your gastroenterologist, hopefully you have one, would be recommended as the next step.

It will all depend on findings on upper endoscopy. Biopsy will only be attempted if abnormal findings.
