Maybe: During an asthma event people use additional muscles/effort to breathe because there is airway restriction to air entry. It might prevent deeper breaths since their is less volume available during the event. If the lungs will not inflate as much you would not gain as much surface for oxygen to enter the blood.

After starting a beta blocker.i have a hard time taking in a deep breath. No pain. No wheezing. O2 97-100%. Been to er no pe no lung congestion. Have mild diastolic dysfunction. Have nodules on thyroid. Do not have asthma or copd.
