38 weeks pregnant and leaking some amniotic fluid. not sure if i am experiencing contractions (1st baby), every now and again i feel something like period pains. should i rather go to the maternity ward to be safe or what should i do?

Yes, leaking fluid: if it is amniotic fluid the risk of infection goes up. Go to maternity ward for a check to be sure.
